Long ago Sorcerer’s found a way to preserve brains and slowly grow attachment to tap into their former power. This has a corrupting element that drives Sorcerer’s mad. If not for the ability to Gateway travel, sorcerer’s guild would be driven out of the Empire. They are the looney’s of the Empire.
